Q1: What type of blade do you use to cut asphalt?
A: First of all, we suggest Diamond blade, for it is engineered to cut construction material that is hard, brittle and abrasive. Asphalt is abrasive. Secondly, we need to choose a cutting blade with proper bonding for abrasive material, in case the blade will be consumed too fast or even lose segment during cutting. So we need some disc with hard base bonding, and better with dropping segments protecting the steel center from undercutting. Laser welded blades will be sharper and longer durability than sintered types. Our factory also has another model of dual-application diamond disc for your wholesale order.
Q2: Can you use a concrete blade on asphalt?
A: Sure, you can. Generally speaking, the concrete blade can also be able to cut asphalt. But a basic idea for the diamond blade is hard bonding for soft material & soft bonding for hard material. Due to asphalt is soft and abrasive, the conctete blades with soft banding may not cut effectivelt or clean, but be consumed faster.
Q3: What is the difference between ASPHALT blade and CONCRETE blade?
A: Firstly, it is the bond. We design diamond blade for hard material with soft bond, and hard bond for soft material. Asphalt is softer than the concrete surface. So we use a relatively hard bond with higher concentration of tungsten and cobalt. This can gurantee the blade cut clean and effectively. Secondly, the core. Asphlat blade normally needs a core preventing itself from undercutting or early consumption by the abrasive material. So the asphalt blades will need extra bigger segments , or drop segments , or tungsten carbide kickers/tips to effect that.
